Reflection OnQuarter 3

These are some of the main themes from "Brave New World".

Quarter 3 Ethics in Brave New World

Brave new world has many ethical stuff in there. Some of them are sex, suffering and isolation. In Brave New World sex is portrayed as the extreme of passion. Sex is now used for distraction. There is no longer love or couples.

Another one is suffering. In "Brave New World" there is technology that has eliminated a lot of things but suffering. They now use narcotics to feel better. Instead of finding other ways to express themselves, people use drugs. This is how suffering is an example of ethics.

Isolation is another example. It can be seen through the story a lot. It's a painful experience for the "unique" characters like John and Bernard, who find themselves at odds with the rest of society. But it's a means to self-discovery and spirituality.

Argument Time Write

I believe what Oscar Wilde said because without disobedience we wouldn't have got to where we are. It's only because that people stood up for themselves and didn't listen to people is where we are today.

Reflection

In quarter 3 I learned more about ethics, right from wrong under different situations. I met my goals by at least getting a B in the class. I believe I earned the grade I deserved. i enjoyed the debate the most because it was fun to do. I did not like reading the book. Next quarter I hope we have more stuff like the debate.
